Main project features

The South African and Danish Governments signed a DKK 40 million bilateral agreement on a Renewable Energy Programme in March 2013. The programme has three components: Component 1: Technical assistance to the Department of Energy; Component 2: Further development of the wind atlas for the Republic of South Africa; Component 3: Technical assistance to integrate renewable energy into the electricity supply.

Service provided

HN Consultants provided the editor for the main report. The review assessed and presented recommendations on a number of issues, including the following: 1) Progress of components and activities according to what was envisaged in the programme document and inception report; 2) Delays or deviations in programme components and activities. Decision making process regarding new activities; 3) South Africa’s enabling environment for renewable energy and energy efficiency including approval/implementation of the White Paper on renewable energy.
